I got the name J2 Graphics ( Pronounced J Squared Graphics) from my name, Jamaal James. Being a math wiz and people always telling me that I have two first names, I came up with J x J or J2. J2 Graphics officially started in 2004. After learning web design in 2003 and doing fan based web sites for friends, I got into video editing. I created
Anime Music Videos, videos for up and coming music artist, and high school sports video highlight reels.
In 2003 I pursued a BFA in Graphic Design with a minor in business at the University of Memphis. After excelling at the university for two and a half years, I was advised that it would take me another five and a half years to graduate. I decided to transfer to Southwest Tennessee Community College in 2006. By this time I moved from being a video editor to a freelance graphic artist. Using my knowledge in business, I helped people start small businesses and market to their target audience.
After graduating from Southwest in 2007 with my first degree in Graphic Arts Multi-Media Production, I got into3d modeling and Animation, as well as flash and web game design. I used these skills to build interactive web sites for new clients as well as create interactive games, and web episodes. I have also used the 3d modeling and animations to create product concepts and commercials for clients.
In 2008 I reentered school at Southwest Tennessee Community College in which I graduated in 2009 in Graphic Arts Print production. In which I have created branding ideas, concepts and promotional ideas for companies such as Quiznos Subs, Harrison Casino, and local restraints. As of today, I am working to brand and market a new movie production company that specializes in CG Animation films.
